Good day for our youngsters at The Whippet Club open show in Vingåker

Play A While Mora Nisse (Allettes Figaro X Ch Play A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale). "Nisse" was best dog puppy 4-6 months.

Play A While The Hours (Ch Khalibadh Snögubbe X Ch Play A While Lady Orlando). "Harry" was best male puppy dog 6-9 months.

Play A While Brideshead Revisited (Ch Khalibadh Snögubbe X Ch Play A While Lady Orlando). "Lizzy" was third in bitch puppies 6-9 months.

Play A While Tjejvasan (Allettes Figaro X Ch Play A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale). "Nessie" was number 5 in bitch puppy class 4-6 months.

Play A While Kranskulla (Allettes Figaro X Ch Play A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale), was third in bitch puppy class 4-6 months.

Our "oldie" "Smirre", Ch Play A While Kometen Kommer (Zelig Roke X Leyenda Miyabi Oh So Sexy)was number 5 in the champion's class

The puppies was judged by Inger Carlsson, kennel Klenods and the adults by Annica Janzon, kennel Hot Isle.

Great news from Finland!

Yesterday Björg Foss (Xploring whippets) judged whippets in Seinäjoki and Play A While Fazer won the dog CAC and sister Ch Play A While Iittala won the champion class and was third best bitch!:)

Earlier brother Ch Play A While Nokia and sister Play A While Tiimari has won BOB under Björg
in Sweden!

Sad news about "Jesper", Ch Play A While Abbot Ale

Jesper is no longer with us. Jesper had a special place in my heart as he was over 6 months old when he left to live with Siskoraila in Finland. Jesper has had a long and good life. One August night back in 1996 Jesper and his siblings were born by Ch Quatrains Hermes out of Ch Play A While XXXX. Jesper was an International, and Nordic champion as well as group winner and he produced some lovely children!:)

My thoghts goes to Siskoraila in Kuopio, Finland who gave Jesper a very good life!:))

Last weekend

There were two sighthound shows last weekend and some Play A While bred whippets were shown. Up in Boden under Bo Bengtson Play A While A Room With A View was second in her class and was awarded champion quality, litter brother PLay A While A Passage To India was third in his class. Play A While Tiimari had a first prize in the open class and all three had very good written qritiques from Bo!!:))

Outside Stockholm Marie gadolin judged whippets for the first time and Play A While Marimekko was BIS working sighthound at this show, well done. Puppies from our latest litter was placed in their classes, PLay A While Tjejvasan was second and PLay A While Mora Nisse was third and they both got prize of honour.

Som jag skrivit om tidigare for jag upp till Norge och lördag var mycket trevlig, var aspirant under Petter Fodstad och vi hade spännande diskussioner och tankeutbyte om de hundar som var anmälda och i lördags var den aktuella rasen greyhound. Så nu är jag klar på greyhound och det är bara en aspiranttjäntsgöring kvar på saluki (om domaren godkänner mig....). Det var mycket spännande att få gå igenom Ch Showline Sporting Step som tydligen leder den så kallade Bamselistan så här långt i år i Norge.

Kom hem trött lördag kväll och har varit lite "ur slag" sen dess men vaknade pigg i morse och har fått tillbaks all energi!:)) Kanske det även beror på att jag fick besked angående min löneförhöjning på morgonen!!:))

Igår när jag och hundarna kom till de lokala motionsspåret satt det en skylt som varnade om älgjakt, så varken jag och några fler motionärer vågade använda spåret utan vi fick hålla oss närmast parkeringen på en 400-metersslinga och efter 40 minuters snurrande kring den var både hundarna och jag ganska uttråkade och åkte hem.... Tydligen så skall de inte vara på plats idag så vi gör ett nytt försök!

Vår lilla whippetdam Busan som blev 4 månader gammal igår har plötsligt förstått att det faktiskt kan vara trevligt att samarbeta med sin ägare och därför passade vi på att fota henne igår och den lilla damen skötte sig exemplariskt, nu skall hon bara förstå att detta skall fungera även på utställning då hon kommer att debutera i Vingåker! Det kanske så att det är jag som är "ringrostig" då det blir andra gången jag ställer ut hund på hela året.....?

Last weekend Våga, Play A While Arabia (by Ch Forgetmenot Flying star out of Ch PLay A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale) ran at lure coursing test and by doing this she is now qualified for the Swedish Whippet Club triple prize were whippets that have excelled in thre different fields can win this award. Våga had done well at shows, LC and is a blood tracking champion!!:)

Skaraborgs kennelklubb flyttar Larvutställningen

Kollade nyss SKK:s hemsida och ser att Skaraborgs kenneklubb har flyttat sin utställning som de senaste åren legat i Larv till den nya stora Arenan i Lidköping som bl a är hemmaarena för Lidköpings stolthet bandylaget Villa. För ett par veckor sedan spelade Tennislandslaget senaste Davis Cup-matchen mot Italien i denna arenan!:)

Kul att det nu kommer att bli utställning i min upppväxtstad Lidköping!!:))

Först tänkte jag att det är otroligt att hundar släpps in i denna hall med tanke på bråket som var om en hall i grannkommunen Grästorp där utställningen mellanlandade mellan Skara och Larv, men som kom jag ihåg att det var kattutställningen i hallen tidigare i år!:)

Cato summer of 2010

Last weekend the western lure coursing club here in Sweden held it's annual club competition for the members of the club. It was a combined lure coursing competition as well as a conformation competition. Cato did very well winning the running part and was second in the conformation, hence ending up club winner for 201o!!:))

Cato is Play A While Karhu (by Ch Forgetmenot Flying Star out of Ch Play A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale) and is owned by Lasse Dahlund and Else Arntzen.

Whippet Club Show in Köping

Last weekend I wen to the whippet club show in Köping that had a huge entry. It was a very nice day and I sat watching the dogs the whole day since I had not entered any dogs of my own. A few Play A While dogs was entered and Ch Play A While Nokia had a wonderful day going second best dog in the big entry! His friend Play A While The Longest Journey was second in his class. At the show half siblings Lizzi and Leo met (both out of Ch PLay A While Lady Orlando) and you can see them in the photo above!:)

At the show in Lahti Play A While Fazer who is from the same litter as Iittala and also resides in Finland was fourth best dog and won the reserve CAC. Fasu has won CAC earlier both at shows and in lure coursing!:))

"Våga" ran her first LC competition yesterday and Våga's owner Michaela Olsson told me that Våga ended up 19 from 62 that started and we are happy that Våga is showing talent in this field of activity also. So far she is already a blood tracking champion!:)

Yesterday Play A While Iittala, "Tintin" won a third and final CAC (CC) yesterday in Lahti Finland at a sighthound show under Petter Fodstad from Norway. Tintin is by Ch Forgetmenot Flying Star out of Ch Play A While Late Red Autumnhop Ale.

Today Tuija is celebrating her ninth birthday! She is SBIS Ch Play A While Kid A. Tuija is the easiest whippet we have ever had at home and she has probably not done one "naughty" thing in her whole life!:)

Play A While Radiohead songs litter will be nine tomorrow

"Maya", Play A While Pyramid Song in a recent photo and looking more and more like her mother Buddha. Maya lives with Angie Diehl of Nysa Hill whippets

Tomorrow the litter by Wolftone Fudge out of Ch Play A While XXXX will be nine years old and most of them are still healthy and fine but thoughts also go to Finn and Måns who are not with us anymore. The litter is named after Radiohead songs and at home we have Ch Play A While Kid A, "Tuija", who is looking better than ever!:)

Slow autumn after a hectic summer!

The whole process of becoming a show judge on 5 sighthound breeds is extremely time consuming at since the middle of May I think only one weekend have been free of dogs shows were I have done assignments since 5 assigments for each breed is required. Now I am seeing "the light in the tunnel" and if everything goes all right I only have 2-3 three assignments left until I am a judge on all 5 breeds...!!



Therefore I am very happy and grateful that so many other people keeps the Play A While flag flying high going around showing their whippets bred at Play A While, since I don´t show anything at all my self!:) Thanks to all involved!!:)



Now I am back at work and not many weekends are booked for "doggy things" this autumn and when I am working I need most weekends to relax and ´"charge the batteries" for the week days as working as a teacher can drain your energy!!



The journey in becoming a judge has been very rewarding and very exciting and I have learned so much from experienced people with lots of knowledge they are prepared to share!!



Winter will be interesting as I have my two first judging assignments booked in Sweden and Finland!

A Room With A View, "Saga" on the move today!

The last weekends several whippets bred at Play A While or by a whippet bred at Play A While have had success! Last weekend Ch Play A While Nokia won a CAC in Denmark and can add the Danish champion title!! Congratulations to Jenny Helming!

Today at a sighthound show in Umeå Play A While A Room With A View won a second CAC in a short time and congratulations and well done Ursula Andersson. At this show in Umeå Play A While Marimekko was fouth best bitch and well done Sara Forvsall!:))

Today at an all breed show in Askersund Carmodey Gullvivs who is by Play A While Whitstable Bay Ale won a first CAC. Above mentioned A Room With A View is also by "Viggo". A couple a weeks ago Viggo's son in Germany Betty Barkley Indian Lover won the German champion title and congratulations to breeder Birte Nöding and owner Ingrid Mai!!:)) Nice to see that Viggo has produced some beautiful whippets in the few litters he has produced!

Alla valpar har hem!

Igår så hittade även Öppet Spår ett nytt hem i Falun så nu är alla valpar hos sina nya ägare!!:))

At The Swedish Whippet Club specialty brother and sister was BIS-puppy and BOS-puppy and they are both by Ch Play A While Nokia (out of Ch Adagio Captured Sunshine). BIS was Adagio Move Your Mind and BOS was Adagio Crowdstopper.

Wednesday I went up to Eskilstuna and our big Whippet Club Show that is now a day at the nice place Vilsta that is perfect for us dog people as dogs are welcome everywhere! The Whippet Club held a members meeting in the evening were the committee explained what they are focusing at and the members had the possibility to ask questions. We then had a look at a film from the 10 years anniversary show at Skokloster in 1986. Since I was presnt at this show I could point out both people and dogs for those who came in to the breed later on, but it was fun to see the style of clothes and hairdo:)) Also interesting to see how the whippets have changed!

Thursday Lynn Yacoby-Wright judged the dogs and after a short while the sky opened and it started pouring down with rain and it went on in to late evening... Not fun for dogs or people!! The following day she judged the bitches and I showed Ch Play A While Lady Orlando ("Memma") who was placed four in the champion's class and considering the rain Friday also I was pleased about the placing in a strong class and she was rewarded UK (excellent quality)! Then I showed her mother Play A While Mymlan who is soon 11 years old. She loved it and ended up second in the veteran's class. Lynn only handed out 10 UK of all bitches entered so Memma's UK felt very nice!:))

Saturday I first went to see Anna-Lena Bäckvall (Balzac whippets) and we sat down looking at photos from the show drinking a cup of tea! After that I went to Kicki Sandell of Zelig whippets. Kicki currently has a litter 5 weeks old at home out of Play A While Sent I November (the litter is by Höglias Trollbunden). It was very nive seeing the puppies and they sure look very promising in my eyes!

I went up really early Sunday morning for a long drive to Ransäter and an international all breed show to do a last assignment (to be a judge on the breed) on Irish Wolfhounds under judge Nenne Runsten. It was a nice day in spite of all the rain!
